This privacy policy applies to the SIMS Red app (hereby referred to as "Application") for mobile devices that was created by SIMS Technologies Inc. (hereby referred to as "Service Provider") as a Free service. This service is intended for use "AS IS".
SIMS pairs over Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) with a personal wearable awareness device. The device uses an onboard camera and on-device analysis to detect when a person approaches the user from behind, and notifies the user on their iPhone. If the user chooses, SIMS lets the user send a text message (SMS) containing their current location to personal contacts the user has selected in advance. SIMS is not an emergency service and does not contact police, medical, fire, or any other emergency service or authority.
The Application collects information when you download and use it. This information may include:
SIMS accesses your device's location so that you can include it in a text message to contacts you have chosen. Your location is accessed only when you choose to send such a message. To deliver the message, your location and the recipient's phone number are transmitted to the Service Provider's backend and to our third-party SMS delivery provider, Twilio, which sends the text message on your behalf. SIMS does not track, log, or continuously monitor your location. Your location is shared only with the personal contacts you select and is never sent to emergency services or government authorities. You can disable location access at any time in your device settings; if you do, the location-sharing feature will be unavailable, but the rest of the Application will continue to function.
SIMS lets you designate personal contacts (such as a family member or friend) to receive a location message when you choose to send one. The name and phone number of each contact you add are transmitted to and stored on the Service Provider's backend servers so the feature is available across your sessions and devices. When you send a message, the recipient's phone number is shared with our third-party SMS delivery provider, Twilio, solely to deliver that message. This information is used only to enable the messages you initiate and is not sold or shared for advertising. You may delete your stored contacts at any time within the Application or by contacting the Service Provider at support@sims.technology.
The paired BLE device captures images using its onboard camera in order to detect when a person approaches the user from behind. When a person is detected, the captured image is transmitted to the Service Provider's backend servers so that it can be stored and made available for you to view in the Application. These images may include other people who are within the camera's view.
The Service Provider uses these images only to provide the detection and image-viewing features of the Application. The Service Provider does not use the images to identify any individual, and does not perform facial recognition or other biometric identification. Images are not sold and are not used for advertising. The Service Provider applies reasonable security measures to protect images during transmission and storage.
Captured images are retained for 30 days and are then deleted, unless you choose to delete them sooner. You may request deletion of your images at any time by contacting the Service Provider at support@sims.technology.
The paired device uses on-device analysis solely to detect the presence of a person approaching from behind. This analysis runs locally, is not used to identify individuals, and the results are not transmitted to the Service Provider.
The Service Provider may use the information you provided to contact you from time to time to provide you with important information, required notices, and service-related communications.
For a better experience, while using the Application, the Service Provider may require you to provide certain personally identifiable information. Any information requested will be retained and used as described in this privacy policy.
SIMS is a personal awareness and location-sharing application. It is not an emergency service and does not connect to, notify, or dispatch any emergency or government authority. SIMS does not guarantee that any alert, detection, or message will be delivered, received, or acted upon, as this depends on your device, network connectivity, GPS availability, and your chosen contacts. SIMS is not a substitute for contacting your local emergency number. In any emergency, contact your local emergency services directly.
Captured images and certain usage data are transmitted to and stored on the Service Provider's backend infrastructure, which may be operated using third-party hosting and cloud services that process this data on the Service Provider's behalf. To deliver location text messages that you initiate, your location and the recipient's phone number are sent to Twilio, a third-party SMS delivery provider, which processes this data solely to send the message. Aggregated, anonymized data may also be transmitted to external services to help the Service Provider improve the Application. The Service Provider may share your information with third parties only in the ways described in this privacy statement.

You can stop all collection of information by the Application easily by uninstalling it. You may use the standard uninstall process available on your mobile device or via the application marketplace.
The Service Provider will retain user-provided data for as long as you use the Application and for a reasonable time thereafter. If you would like the Service Provider to delete user-provided data that you have provided via the Application, please contact them at support@sims.technology and they will respond in a reasonable time.
The Service Provider does not use the Application to knowingly solicit data from or market to children under the age of 18.
The Service Provider does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children. The Service Provider encourages all children to never submit any personally identifiable information through the Application and/or Services. The Service Provider encourages parents and legal guardians to monitor their children's Internet usage and to help enforce this Policy by instructing their children never to provide personally identifiable information through the Application and/or Services without their permission. If you have reason to believe that a child has provided personally identifiable information to the Service Provider through the Application and/or Services, please contact the Service Provider (support@sims.technology) so that they will be able to take the necessary actions. You must also be at least 18 years of age to consent to the processing of your personally identifiable information in your country (in some countries we may allow your parent or guardian to do so on your behalf).
The Service Provider is concerned about safeguarding the confidentiality of your information. The Service Provider provides physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards to protect the information it processes and maintains.
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time for any reason. The Service Provider will notify you of any changes by updating this page with the new Privacy Policy. You are advised to consult this Privacy Policy regularly for any changes, as continued use is deemed approval of all changes.
